Mastering the Single Plane Golf Swing | Moe Norman's Perfect Swing
Watch Moe Norman at the end of this video to witness the epitome of the perfect Single Plane Golf Swing.
Understanding the Single Plane Golf Swing:
One of the most common questions I receive is, "What are the most important things when it comes to swinging on a Single Plane?" While many are looking for a shortcut, the truth is, mastering the Single Plane Swing is a process.
In this video, I delve into what I consider the essential steps to mastering the Single Plane Swing in the proper order. This Model-Order-Measure process is what makes the Single Plane Swing so unique. Each part of the swing, starting from the very beginning, is intricately connected to the next. This seamless progression means that every position is crucial because it follows the ideal sequence.
About the Single Plane Swing:
The Single Plane golf swing isn't just a quick-fix technique-it's a comprehensive system designed to simplify the most critical moment of the golf swing: impact.
Key Points:
Simplification at Address: Unlike the Conventional golf swing where arms hang straight down at address, necessitating an upward movement into impact and creating stress on the back, the Single Plane Swing begins on the same plane as impact. This eliminates unnecessary movements and reduces stress on the body.
Efficiency and Effectiveness: By starting and impacting on the same plane, the Single Plane Swing reduces the complexity of the golf swing, making it easier to achieve consistent, powerful shots.
Model-Order-Measure Process: Every step in the Single Plane Swing is interlinked, ensuring that each position is executed in the ideal order for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
Join me as I walk you through this revolutionary approach to golf, demonstrating how every element of the Single Plane Swing contributes to a more straightforward and powerful golf swing. Don't miss Moe Norman's perfect swing at the end of the video-it's a true masterpiece of the Single Plane technique.

    This video strikes home for me. No pun intended. I was trying to follow the Jim Hardy swing and was not getting it. I just could not figure out how to drop my hands and keep my hands close to my thighs (inner arc) while the club head traveled on the outer arc. This video got me excited as I see you have shown what my exact issue is. Book is on the way as I type.

    Absolutely brilliant an ergonomically swing removing variables and completely repeatably WITHOUT EVEN THINKING ABOUT . In 80 years from personal analysis I have found Golf is total paralysis by analysis .I am now 100 % convinced all teaching Pros do that deliberately so you pay for multiple so called lessons . Golf is a global $84.000.000.000. Industry big bucks to be made. and I have paid my share to learn nothing from them

    Where is the ball positioned with driver?

  • @edwarddelavilla3475
    @edwarddelavilla3475 День тому

    It’s actually light years better to hit driver with an open stance, and of course if you swing left in the same direction your open stance is pointing to… you will make your ball flight go in the direction. The correct way to swing with an open stance driver swing, shoulders have to be squared to target, then you get way farther ball flight than Moe could ever achieve with a closed stance, and straighter. Open stance allows you to max out parametric acceleration, something Moe was not able to do and lost tons of power because of it. If you hit left with an open stance driver swing, you aren’t using side bend that keeps the face squared for way longer. With a closed stance you can’t get your lead knee/foot in a position to push off the ground and come off the ground moving backwards. I’ll take an extra 45mph club speed over using closed stance. Science.

    At address it seems that you internally rotate your upper left arm (which elevates your left shoulder)and. then externally rotate your lower left forearm and then grip the club. Is this correct?

    The way Moe’s hands were locked down into ulnar deviation through impact causes them to turn over immediately after impact. That points the toe of the club up much sooner than a conventional swing where the arms hands don’t get pulled straight and turn the toe over until well inside the target line and creates a the very steep swing plane in the finish because the toe acts like a boat rudder to steer the mass in the direction it points. Count Yogi (Harry Frankenberg) had the same steep release plane for the same reason as Moe. The way he gripped and oriented this hand at impact acted to lock the face square with hands through impact with unlar deviation but like Moe that caused the hands and toe to turn over. Hogan had similar action in his swing to keep the face square throughout impact but prevented hands and toe from turning over so fast by the way he maxed out flexion/supination in lead wrist which kept extension in the trail wrist “holding off” the turning over of the hands which would cause him to snap hook when his timing was off. After learning all three swing styles (I worked at Broad Run Golf where the pro’s taught the Graves / Norman method) I conclude that Moe and Frankenberg were golf savants who just developed their unconventional swings with observation of cause and effect when trying every possible way to swing a club. From using Five Lessons and reading books about Hogan I concluded was more of a “ducks in a row” sensing type when it came to learning I who copied a lot of his techniques from others like his caddie buddy Byron Nelson’s new dual plane swing in the 1930 and what Abe Mitchell wrote in his 1933 book “Down To Scratch” about ‘swinging into resistance. I suspect Hogan’s waggle may have been the result of seeing Count Yogi and copying parts of his swing.

  • @TeddyCavachon
    @TeddyCavachon 3 дні тому

    It is impossible to see in real time but the pendulum action he shows here was the result of his grip putting the hands maxed out in ulnar deviation at address (lining up the shot, not back where he rested the club on the ground) and again at impact. But viewed frame by frame you will see his wrists change to radial deviation cocking lag then see it release fully at impact, something that does not occur in a ‘conventional’ swing taught today but interestingly did in the swing of Hogan for the same reason. Letting the club whip around the hands all the way until the wrists lock up causes the compressed ball to fly off the face faster because of the way the hands lock up just as ball releases. The physic of the ball is the same an unbelted passenger who will fly off the seat if the driver slams on the brakes. The way Moe gripped the club has the same effect making the RATE OF DECOMPRESSION of the ball off the face greater than in a swing were the club head is still accelerating. That caused the ball to stay on the face longer and decompress at a slower rate which translates into less ball speed off the face. It is counter intuitive but a lot of things about physics is 😮 Just ask Bryson 😊😊

  • @TeddyCavachon
    @TeddyCavachon 3 дні тому

    If hands are snapped down into ulnar deviation with straight arms like he did in his grip lining up the club and again at impact it locks shoulder/arms/hands into a rigid triangle which brings the club face square to target every time. Hogan and Count Yogi (Frakenburg) had the same ulnar deviation / locking up action at impact but with different action to lock up the hands and keep face square to target through the ball. Hogan forced his lead hand into maxed-out flexion / supination + ulnar deviation. Count Yogi did the opposite with lead hand maxing it out in extension + supination. Any time both hand are maxed out down in ulnar-deviation and the forearms are prevented from rotating by one of the hands being maxed out or nearly so in extension or flexion it locks up hands and arms. It’s just a matter of keeping inward ( ) counter-torque in forearms and hands at address and during the swing. It is why all three were noted for hitting the ball consistently straight better any others. I first discover the cause and effect retooling my swing with Hogan’s Five Lessons and waggling down to the point my hands where maxed out in ulnar deviation and felt ‘locked up’. I noticed the face angle close 90° during the waggle but always stopped at the same place as if hitting a doorstop. So I started trying to hit shots with just the waggle action and they took off like bullets dead straight! I then figured out the timing of adding that waggle-whack-a-ball action to my partial and full swings. It requires slowing down hip turn and hands to give the club head to waggle-whip around the hands then releasing back foot and sidebending to prevent the club head from ‘flipping’ past the hands.

    It sounds complicated because the way your explaining it is complicated. You could have gotten to the point with way less talk. Keep It Simple! Grip pressure can be the killer of even a swing that is on plane! So how do you explain grip pressure? The best description I have ever gotten in a lesson was, when you take a pet bird out of the cage, you hold it not to harm it but just enough to net let it fly away, No tension in both forearms. This is what I call Click-Bait Golf teaching!

    I remember reading somewhere that Mo was a natural left-hander but played right-handed, the same as Bryson (and also the same as myself). I feel this provides a huge advantage for lead-arm torso movement. However, the most interesting aspect of Bryson's swing is his leg movement and the way he lifts his lead foot to start his takeaway and drops it to the ground to start his transition. I have tried doing this this week and it really helps with implementing the "vertical drop". I would be interested in hearing your feedback.
